According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, pediatric special needs dentistry are those practices that accommodate children with emotional, physical, sensory, cognitive, developmental, or mental impairment. It also accommodates patients who have an orofacial condition or disorder. Children with special health care needs are examined and then treated with various techniques including fillings, cleanings, and dental care. Treatment is provided according to the unique condition of each child.
